Misty Meadow is a fantasy landscape using a favourite subject of mine – foxgloves. I was really keen to capture a particular colour combination of soft teal, purples and white. This piece has a specially dyed background – created using thickened procion dyes which are left to cure before being washed out completely. This enables me to achieve the soft misty watercolour effect in the distance.
The fabrics are hand-dyed, painted and printed, then appliqued, before being stretched over a board, mounted, framed and glazed. The frame is a stunning light grey frame with small silver edge detail with a white mount (and UV glass) – very fresh and contemporary.
This is a large piece – approx 90cm square.
